Hope Santa was good to one and all!
All the best when the new year comes!
City centre parking is terrible.
Trains are even worse.
Park and Ride schemes are barely tolerable.
That’s the end of my first week in my new job. In general, it’s been good and the pluses far outweigh the minuses.
The worst thing is that the building itself seems to be a mobile phone black hole.
Zero reception until you step 2 feet outside the front door and even then it takes about 5 minutes to connect. So, here’s me with an expensive, brand new phone and absolutely zero chance to use it.
That means I’ve been getting text messages at strange times of day, voicemails from 2 days ago just appearing and generally just having a communication nightmare.
There is hope in the fact that a new computer system might promise access to outside e-mail. Fingers crossed.
Monday was a vile day to travel in.
Sleet at the train station
Automated ticket machine burst
Packed like sardines (due to engine failure)
Large queue at my destination to pay for the pleasure
Late, so had to pay for a taxi to the door
What a nonsense.
It only got marginally better for the rest of the week.
Just as well the people are tremendous.
I have 3 Xmas parties to attend in the next 3 weeks.
And I’ve managed to arrange some solid time off over new year. Immense.
No, I haven’t escaped.
The last month has been spent patiently waiting to start my new job. I suppose it’s important that criminal record/background checks are thorough but it still seems to be taking an amazingly long time to come to completion. Perhaps they think I’m a terrorist.
I’ve been floating about between Blackburn and Newcastle in nomadic style.
Golf has hopefully taken a turn for the better. I’m hoping to be swinging it well in time for the new season.
I love my iPhone.
Music has taken a bit of a back seat. I haven’t written anything new but spent a little time learning ‘Witchita Lineman’ for the sheer hell of it.
Gavin Burns hasn’t been available of late so I’ve been toying with the idea of putting a couple of acoustic numbers down, just in order to get a bit of feedback and to give me something to focus on. The new AlConway.com header image contains a few of the lyrics so I suppose that’s a start.
I still want an analogue synth. Weird noises should be listed amidst my hobbies.
I hope you’re enjoying the new look. If you haven’t seen the forums yet, I’d have a browse. That’s where I spout most of my nonsense. Suggestions are always welcome.
It’s only 7 weeks til Christmas.
Punch all your friends and family, it’ll make it exceedingly cheap and bring a new meaning to the phrase ‘credit crunch’.
Keep warm by setting yourself on fire.
AC
Consider this the slip that brought me to my knees.
First entry from the new iPhone 3G.
Still figuring out the text entry system. This is going to be a nightmare when mixed with alcohol.
Bye for now.
I’m currently picking bits of cactus out of my freshly washed jeans
Tenerife was amazing
I’m now an ex-ex-pat.
Buenos Tardes.
Sad News.
Puts all the hysteria about Rangers fans rioting into perspective.
You’ll never walk alone, Tommy Twists
